DONATION UPDATE: 21% achieved
TOTAL DONATIONS: $21,220 (click here to see donation page)
TARGET GOAL: $100,000
D-Day 6/15/17 (Patrol steps off on the PCT)
As of this report Operation Awakening II – The Long Patrol, has achieved 21% of our target goal. 100% of these contributions goes directly to The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (501c3). I DO NOT SEE A DIME. The current total was achieved by good old fashion grass-roots fund-raising. Its has been 10 months since OPA II has kicked off operations and we stand proudly at 21% of OUR goal. I do emphasize the word OUR. Because with out all of you I would not be at the current balance WE have achieved. OUTSTANDING!!!
This last month was a huge success mostly in part to OPA II attending the Marine Corps League Mid Winter Conference in Fredricksburg VA. What a great bunch of Marines in attendance. From the Commandant down to the division and dept level officers, they all made me feel right at home. I was invited to speak to the entire group and meet everyone afterwards. But what made it a real success was that we raised over $3,000 in new donations!! I also got to meet the Marine Corps League Ladies Auxiliary. Talk about a real warm reception. Thanks ladies and looking forward to the continued support. Semper Fi to all in attendance.
CORPSMAN LEVEL DONATIONS ($500 above)
I list these contributions under the “Corpsman Donation” level. The Corpsman donation is the highest contribution recognized by Operation Awakening. The reason for calling it the “Corpsman” donation is that a Corpsman on a patrol is the number one lifesaving element in an operation. Without a Navy Corpsman on a patrol some marines would never have made it home. The Corpsman is the tip of the spear when it comes to recovery. He is the one who ensures the marine gets the attention needed for dust off to continue the life saving process. Bottom line, The Corpsman is the bravest brother of the battlefield. The level of sacrifice that the Corpsman make to keep brothers alive once the call is screamed out, is as if god himself sent that man to save that downed brother.
So using that same mindset the following people have become the Operation Awakening Corpsman contributors – with your donations you have breathed life into my Operation.
Sean Ward $1,000 – This makes Sean’s overall donations at $4,000. Sean has been donating and contributing to OPA II since we kicked off the fundraising portion. Sean I cannot thank you enough for all you’ve done for helping achieve this target. As a recon marine you know what it means to go above and beyond the call. Especially regardinga brother / sister. You have been indoctrinated in the world of “Always beside you…” Semper Fi Brother!
Marine Corps League Dept. of Massachusetts $1,000.00 – I met these great Marines at the Mid Winter Marine Corps League National Convention in Fredricksburg VA. During my time at the convention I was treated like a king and what I was doing with OPA II was heard loud and clear. So much that they stepped up to the plate (in front of the entire national convention) and made a $1,000 donation to the Semper Fi Fund through OPA II. WOW!!! Right after that we had a flood of MCL members showing up at the OPA II display. Once again the MCL’s across this great nation showing up and supporting Operation Awakening. Semper Fi and Always your brothers keeper.
Department of New York Marine Corps League donated $500.00 – Another bunch of great Marines from my home state of New York. I would like to thank Commandant James Ransom and his staff for making this contribution happen. Keep up the great work and thanks again.
Marguerite O’Connell $500.00 – Not only is she a great mom, a great american, and a great patriot… She is my cousin. Thank you so much cus for this very generous donation and please keep on keepin on with what your doing for OPA II.
FIRE TEAM DONATIONS (Below $500.00)
Operation Awakening lists the “Fire Team” donation as a contribution between 1 and 500 dollars. The United States Marine Corps considers the Fire Team the most lethal weapon in the US arsenal. A great marine once said, “the fire team is the most deadly weapon in the US Marine Corps. But more important than its lethality is the fire teams reliability”. What the General was referring too is that all the other weapon platforms can fail, but the US Marine Rife Team will always be there. ALWAYS THERE..
The Fire Team donation’s that our operation has received are the core assets that keep this operation moving forward. It’s the anonymous $10.00 donation every week or every other week that helps. Or the donation from returning contributors that let in the light of hope toward my goal. No matter what the donation level please keep coming. I thank the following people for their Fire Team donation.
- Frank Schlenzig – $25.00
- Vanessa Keane – $5.00
- Debra & Steve Burgess – $50.00
- Barton Smittle – $50.00
- Lawrence Herrmann – $100.00
- David Porter – $100.00
- Patrick Owen – $100.00
- Michael LoGiudice – $10.00 in memory of SSgt David Galloway, USMC, 8654, 8541, 0321
As of this update I will be 2 months out from stepping off on one of the longest hikes in the United States. 2,710 miles… I will be starting 35 miles south of my starting position. That’s right I have to walk a day and a half before I can even begin this walk. I cannot express how stoked I am to kick this thing off. I am currently working with various “air assets” to help with that 35 mile kicker and more to come. But if I cannot get a ride to my insert point than go ahead and throw me into those extra 35 miles. Why… Because this is for those men and women who make that unconditional sacrifice every day. Everyday we ask these brave warriors to put on the uniform and stand guard on that wall. A wall that has been in their care since 1776. These traditions of honor, bravery, courage, and unconditional sacrifices have been shaped and molded through fire and blood. But its also the the families that I do this walk for. They are the innocent ones called in from the sidelines to pick up the pieces once the warrior comes home. And with that said I would walk this trek in reverse just so one child can be happy and comfortable.
For I am my brothers keeper. Join me in supporting my goals to help them and their families through this very difficult transition. If you are reading this and haven’t made your contribution and support known please click on my donation button and execute that support.
Always Faithful Always Forward
